When Newcastle were taken over, it seemed like only a matter of time before Jose Mourinho was linked with the manager position.
The AS Roma boss has often been seen as a potential coach for the northeast side. With Mourinho learning the ropes of management under Sir Bobby Robson, who is a legend at Newcastle.
And under the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, the Toon could have the finances to not only lure Mourinho to Tyneside, but also give him the tools needed to build something.
Moreover, in a recent press conference, Mourinho seemingly hinted that he would be open to the position sometime in the future.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Serie A clash against Juventus, Mourinho said via Sky Sports News: “The only thing I can say is that for many, many years, I worked with one of the most important figures in the history of Newcastle, Sir Bobby Robson.
“And so because of that, I have always had a bit of an emotional connection with that city and that fanbase. But it’s nothing more than that.”

Indeed, as you would expect, some Newcastle fans took these comments as a hint that Mourinho could well manage the club someday in the future. Bruce’s position with the Magpies currently looks in danger.
