Tottenham Hotspur did the impossible one year and one day ago.
Spurs beat Ajax in the semi-final of the Champions League to move into the final of the competition, where Liverpool were waiting for them.
Tottenham had lost the first leg 1-0 in North London and were trailing 2-0 at half-time in Amsterdam for the second leg.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who needed three second-half goals, were effectively out of the competition, but a stunning hat-trick from Lucas Moura – including a dramatic last-second strike – saw the Premier League side break Ajax hearts.
It was the most memorable moment in the modern history of the Lilywhites.
Dele Alli, who assisted Lucas’s dramatic third that night, has reflected on the victory on Twitter, and here’s how Tottenham fans responded:
Pochettino’s side went on to lose the final 2-0 to Liverpool, the same Liverpool who have a 25-point lead in the Premier League table at the moment.
There is no shame in losing a final to a team as good as the Reds are.
