Steve McManaman has claimed that Alisson Becker has been ‘the star man all season’ for Liverpool despite their struggles.
That was proven to be the case on Saturday when Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Southampton 3-1, with McManaman praising Alisson for ‘three brilliant saves’ in the second half.
You don’t really know what you are going to get from those on Merseyside this term, despite their consistent success over the years.

But one man that can’t be moved is their number one and Brazil’s man guy ahead of the 2022 World Cup, as McManaman was sure to big up the 30-year-old, as he told Premier League Productions (12/11/22 at 5:05 pm).
“A big mention in the second half has to go to the Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson,” said McManaman. “This wasn’t a walk in the park for them.
“He made three brilliant saves and he has been outstanding this year. Liverpool have been a little bit inconsistent, but the goalkeeper hasn’t. He has been the star man all season for them.
“Darwin Nunez will get the credit for the two goals, but I thought Alisson Becker was fantastic.”

LIVERPOOL’S BEST-PERFORMING PLAYER?
From the goalscoring machine, Mo Salah, to the usually cool and authoritative, Virgil van Dijk, most of the Liverpool players have had their troubles this season.
But heading into the break, it could be argued that, over a consistent basis, Alisson has been the main guy, alongside the injured Luis Diaz.
Either way, upon Liverpool’s return post-Qatar, those donning Liverpool colours will be hoping for a return of the Liverpool of old because there have been a lot of worrying signs during these past few months.
