Tottenham can be delighted with their win in Moscow but Vincent Janssen was disappointing.
Tottenham’s Son Heung-min scores their first goal
Tottenham Hotspur clinched a vital Champions League win against CSKA Moscow with a winner from in form Heung-Min Son.
The South Korean can’t stop scoring, but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the man they would really like to start finding the net, Vincent Janssen.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen in action
The Dutchman is yet to score in open play this season, with his only strike a penalty in a 5-0 win over Gillingham.
This goal was supposed to spark him into life, but against CSKA last night he was disappointing and did not look like scoring. When he did find the net in the first half, he was two yards offside.
| Total Scoring Att | On Target | Goals | Scoring V Shooting Accuracy | Chances Created | Assists | Aerial Duels Won | Touches | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vincent Janssen | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0% | 0 | 0 | 0 | 22 | 67 |
He had just one shot, which landed off target, failed to create a chance, and managed only 22 touches.
The last striker Tottenham bought was Roberto Soldado, and this was a worrying flashback. Tottenham looked more lively without Janssen once he was substituted, with Son stepping into a more central role.

Janssen has plenty of time to come good and show he can be the player he was hyped to be, but last night was not one of his more impressive displays.
Thankfully Son’s goal meant the spotlight on Janssen’s performance will not intensify, but a goal against Manchester City this weekend would be absolutely vital for the Dutchman, and the club.
With Harry Kane out injured there is pressure on Janssen to perform, and his inability to do so last night was the only real sour note on a tremendously pleasing evening for Tottenham.
