Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing the idea of Arsenal signing Ivan Toney from Brentford this summer.
Arsenal will almost certainly be in the market for a new striker at the end of the season. After all, Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are out of contract this summer, and Seaman says that Toney could be a handy addition.
The Brentford forward has enjoyed a fantastic Premier League campaign with the Bees, netting 12 goals thus far, and the former goalkeeper believes he’s ready for that next step.
What’s been said?
Seaman discussed the idea of Toney coming to Arsenal.
“Would you take a risk on someone like Ivan Toney?” Seaman’s co-host asked.
“That’s the sort of guy that you need, someone like that who is an out and out striker, from what I’ve seen he’s a quality player,” Seaman said.

Not what Arsenal need
Arsenal need a bona fide elite forward this summer, and sadly, Toney doesn’t quite fit into that category just yet.
Yes, he’s scored 12 league goals so far this season, but five of those have been penalties and a further two have come against Norwich and Burnley, who are, with all due respect, two of the worst teams in the Premier League.
Perhaps after another couple of seasons scoring at this rate Toney could be considered by a team like Arsenal, but at this point, he still has a lot to prove.
Factor in that Brentford would surely be asking for a lot of money for Toney, and you get a potential transfer deal that wouldn’t really benefit Arsenal all that much.
Edu needs to find a better option than Toney.
