Liverpool have been linked with hijacking Paris Saint-Germain’s move for Wolfsburg attacker Julian Draxler, according to The Times.
The attacking midfielder is one of German football’s most prized talents, but the smart move for the Reds could be to step aside, to preserve their own interests.

Liverpool’s star player is Philippe Coutinho, with the Brazilian scoring five goals and providing five assists in 12 Premier League starts.
He is one of the most valuable players in world football, and PSG are one of the only clubs in the globe who could afford to buy him.
They are currently listed as second favourites behind Barcelona to sign Coutinho with SkyBet, with French outlet Le 10 Sport reporting last month that PSG plan to return for the playmaker in future transfer windows, currently harbouring regret that they did not sign him in the summer.
If PSG sign Julian Draxler, then their need to sign Coutinho will diminish. It won’t solve the Barcelona problem, but it will surely diminish the number of suitors for the Liverpool star.

Liverpool winning the race for Draxler could give PSG hope that Coutinho is available with the German having the potential to replace him.
The Wolfsburg star is a top talent but unproven at Champions League level, the stature at which Liverpool aspire to.
The Reds may want Draxler, but the smart play would be to let him move to PSG and preserve their own interests.
