Joey Barton has tipped big things for Liverpool loanee Jarell Quansah after the defender’s impressive performance for Bristol Rovers in League One against Ipswich Town.

Speaking to Bristol Live, the Pirates manager was full of praise for the 20-year-old defender after helping Bristol Rovers to a clean sheet against the Tractor Boys, with Barton lauding the Liverpool academy graduate as a big talent for the future.

Quansah joined Bristol Rovers on loan in the January transfer window and has quickly become a staple for the third-tier English side, with Barton taking a shining to the 20-year-old and being a huge fan of what he has seen from the centre-back since his move to the West Country.

Barton said when asked about Quansah’s potential and his impact on Bristol Rovers: “He has an enormous future in front of him. The sky’s the limit, he can be whatever he wants. Klopp doesn’t feel the way he feels about you, training with the first team, unless you’re a good player.”

With this being Quansah’s first venture into senior football, the Liverpool academy graduate has grasped the opportunity with both hands, with the defender now becoming a key player for Bristol Rovers and a firm favourite for Barton at the Memorial Stadium.

Indeed, whilst promotion looks unlikely at this stage of the season, Quansah will only be focused on keeping clean sheets and continuing to start for Bristol Rovers, with a return to Liverpool in the summer already an exciting prospect for the centre-back.

Liverpool’s youth academy is one of the best in England, with Trent Alexander-Arnold regularly considered one of the top fullbacks in world football and Stefan Bajcetic making a name for himself in the Reds midfield. And Quansah could soon be a part of the squad if given the chance to impress in pre-season.

As we know, Klopp is never afraid to give youngsters a chance in the first-team if he believes they are ready for the chance, and Quansah could soon be at that level after half a season in League One, where the defender is already flourishing under Barton.
