Tottenham Hotspur are yet to sign a player this summer but there are key areas they need to focus on before the transfer window closes.

Tottenham Hotspur fans must wonder when they are going to get some good news regarding transfers, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side yet to bring any new faces to the club.

Kyle Walker has gone, for crazy money in a crazy market, but Spurs are yet to reinvest any of that in a new player or three.

With time running out, Tottenham need to strengthen in key areas or risk slipping behind just when they looked to be making a significant breakthrough, and there are three areas that require swift attention.

Striker

While Harry Kane is the undisputed number striker at Tottenham, the prospect of losing him for a prolonged spell will send shivers down the spines of the club’s fans.

Pochettino signed Vincent Janssen last summer but the Dutchman has looked uninspiring so far, while Heung-min Son is currently side-lined.

A new forward is a must and Tottenham have the cash to bring in a truly exciting name if they take the plunge.

Winger

If there is one area of the field where Tottenham are weak it is out wide and a new out-and-out winger who can perform consistently is a must if they wish to challenge both domestically and in Europe this season.

A player like Thomas Lemar would go down a storm at Spurs and Pochettino needs to stop taking risks on unproven French-based players and move for the real deal.

Right-back

While Kieran Trippier proved his worth last season and Kyle Walker-Peters has the ability to cover for his near-namesake, it would be no surprise to see Tottenham bring in another right-back following Kyle Walker’s move to Manchester City.

The best option would be signing a versatile defender who can operate both on the right and in the centre, especially if Kevin Wimmer’s future is elsewhere. Step forward, Sergie Aurier.
