After a promising August, Wolves slipped back badly and need to get a win against managerless Sunderland on Sunday.

The manager: Mick McCarthy’s tell it like it is style won’t please everybody, and the fans are never afraid to boo the team when the going gets tough. The manager will be confident he can keep the side up once again, and keep his job in the process.
Grade: C-
Verdict: Wolves’ season will be won and lost in their six pointers against relegation rivals. Last season they picked up big wins against the big sides, but when they have faced them this season they have simply rolled over. See a 3-0 loss to struggling Chelsea, a team they beat last season.
It all started so promisingly with early wins, but progress quickly tailed off. Winger Matt Jarvis has hit particularly poor form of late, Kevin Doyle is also in a lull and Steven Fletcher is really a Championship-level striker. Even new signing, the highly-rated Roger Johnson has struggled for form.
For Wolves it came down to a crunch tie with Wigan a few weeks ago to quell the fans, they won 3-1 but have slipped back again and require a win against Sunderland or angered supporters will want answers.
