The Season So Far: Norwich City

The canaries are flying, savouring their position in the top half of the table, and should be confident for the remainder of the season.

Star man: Grant Holt

Notable mentions: Anthony Pilkington, Steve Morison

Must do better: On-loan Ritchie De Laet lost his place in defence after a couple of shaky showings, despite scoring, and will want to do better when he gets another chance.

Manager: Paul Lambert is highly regarded in the football community, and has continued to enhance his reputation. His job is virtually guaranteed.

Grade: A

Verdict: All three promoted sides are doing well, but Norwich have emerged victorious in six-pointers against Swansea and QPR giving themselves a great chance of staying up. The club do not rely on star names, with Lambert’s team-ethic vital. Norwich are well organised but play attractive football and are well set to continue this, but the failure to keep a clean sheet of late has been an irritation.

The most promising thing about Norwich’s start is that in showings against Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool they have pushed them all to the limit, far from predicted walkovers, snatching an impressive point at Anfield thanks to Grant Holt’s header. This weekend’s trip to Manchester City will bring another stern test of their resolve.
