The Toffees are enjoying the routine of the Premier League after an arduous summer, and there are several reasons to be cheerful

The manager: David Moyes is once again doing an admirable job in tough circumstances, although questions about his long-term future still remain.
Grade: B
Verdict: You can only play the hand you have been dealt, and Everton are doing a great job considering the financial restrictions on the club. Moyes was forced to search for free transfers and loans once again, but on-pitch performances are improving after a slow start. The emergence of Jack Rodwell into beginning to look like the player he was always touted to be is a major plus point.
Young stars Vellios and Barkley are also offering positive hope for the future, and tying down Fellaini to a new long-term contract has given the club a much-needed boost after the deadline day sale of Mikel Arteta. Most observers will still fancy Everton to finish in the top 10, providing there are no big money bids for Jagielka and Baines in January. The club desperately need investment to carry them forward, but even the sprinkling of a few new faces signed on the cheap or on loan would be a welcome addition in the transfer window.
