Verdict: Thousands of season ticket holders decided not to renew when Alex McLeish was appointed as manager this summer, and they have not missed much. Save for home wins over Wigan and Norwich there has been very little to shout about.
When the season started they were keeping clean sheets but this has now stopped too. Against Tottenham on Monday Villa were awful, and offered nothing in the way of attack. Agbonlahor has shined, but McLeish needs £9.5 million winger Charles N’Zogbia to hit form, and his failure to do so could define the manager’s reign.
