Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to the statistic that Heung-Min Son has provided the most assists from forward players since the 2016/17 season.
On Sunday, Son supplied two assists for Spurs as they recorded a 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
Hours later, Mo Salah also got an assist to his name when he provided Sadio Mane with a through ball during Liverpool’s enthralling 2-2 draw against Manchester City.
Liverpool’s speed king is actually one place and one assist behind Son (36) and it seems as though the duo might just overtake one another as the season drags on.
Nonetheless, over the weekend, Son proved why he is one of the best forwards in the country and in Europe.
Spurs fans have shared that it is ‘sad’ and ’embarrassing’ that they have two high-quality players at their disposal – Harry Kane and Son – yet they can’t produce a team to challenge at the top.
Of course, the North London club were competing for the Premier League title, not so long ago, but a lack of investment and the sacking of Mauricio Pochettinio changed it all.
It does seem as though Spurs will go down a road where they will regret not getting the best out of Son or Kane, because sooner rather than later, they will either be towards the end of their careers, or not wearing their colours.
If during these coming years, a trophy doesn’t head Tottenham’s way then those regrets inside Hotspur Way will only grow and grow.
