Leeds United transfer chief Victor Orta has told Guillem Balague’s Youtube channel that the transfer window could stay open until the end of September.

Orta will almost certainly be eyeing up transfer targets for Leeds, with the Whites pushing for promotion to the Premier League.

But with so much uncertainty around football at the moment, it is unclear what changes will be made to the transfer window.

Ordinarily Leeds would be free to sign players from July until the end of August, but the current season could still be running at that point.

That obviously means that the transfer window’s opening date may have to be pushed back.

And Orta said: “The rumour is that all goes to the 30th September, that’s the rumour around all of this.

“That is because the delay of two months is about the same as the start [of the season].

“30th September is the rumour that is around of all the people around me in terms of the market dates.”

Leeds’ transfer budget is likely to be set by whether they go up or not.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are currently in a very strong position to go on and earn promotion, as they lead the way in the Championship.

Leeds are seven points clear of Fulham in third, with just nine games remaining this term.
