Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe have been linked with Tottenham and Liverpool but PSG director Leonardo is optimistic that the superstar attackers will sign new contracts at the Parc des Princes, as he told France Bleu.

While last week’s 4-1 thrashing of Barcelona might have painted a picture of a club firing on all cylinders, Paris Saint-Germain have a few issues to deal with behind the scenes.

Nagging concerns remain surrounding the future some of the club’s key players, with Di Maria and left-back Juan Bernat due to become free agents in July.

Try as they might, PSG are yet to tie Neymar or Mbappe down to a new, long-term deal either.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have held talks with Di Maria’s agent, backing up claims form L’Equipe suggesting that the former Real Madrid winger could be reunited with Jose Mourinho in North London.

Le Parisien, meanwhile, believes Mbappe would be sorely tempted by the chance to hone his already formidable talents under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash with bottom-of-the-table Dijon, sporting director Leonardo struck a positive tone when discussing the futures of the much-discussed quartet.

“On Kylian Mbappé’s contract, we’ve been talking for a long time. I think we are reaching the moment where we have to take a position and a decision,” Leonardo explained.

“We have a good opening of dialogue. It’s on the right track.

“We are on the same page, I think. Same for Di Maria and Bernat. The idea is to get there as quickly as possible, because we intend to renew all four.”

FootMercato this week suggested that Mbappe could be handed a £650,000-a-week deal in the French capital – a mind-bending figure that would put him in line with Neymar as PSG’s top earner.

Then again, if anyone is worth such a staggering pay-packet, it is the world’s next best footballer.
