Jan Bieganski resisted approaches from Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa before opting to join Polish outfit Lechia Gdansk instead, as reported by Sportowe Fakty.
This does not mean the highly-rated midfielder will never be gracing British shores. Far from it.
As Bieganski himself explained, he is hoping to make a name for himself in one of Europe’s major leagues at some point in the future.
For now, however, he is fully focused on honing his talents at home, having agreed a move from GKS Tychy to Ekstraklasa rivals Lechia Gdansk ahead of the January transfer window.
Sportowe Fakty report that Aston Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were all interested.
But Bieganski felt that he would be better off playing regular first-team football in Poland rather than accumulating reserve-team minutes behind the scenes at one of England’s biggest clubs.
“This is the right step in my life, I did not want to run into deep water and I think that (staying in) the Ekstraklasa at this age is the best result,” Bieganski explained.

“My next step is (to go) abroad and I came to Gdansk with this approach – to leave a good impression in Ekstraklasa and, in a few years, to conquer abroad.
“I am a central midfielder, and my strengths are confidence and character.”
Of course, if Bieganski continues to develop in his new surroundings, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal and co will continue to take a keen interest.
Villa, in particular, have made it their mission to bring some of Europe’s most exciting youngsters to their Bodymoor Heath base; although new Brexit rules could threaten that transfer policy in the New Year.
