Arsenal did the double over Tottenham Hotspur last season, including a faultless performance in the backyard of their rivals.
But it wasn’t enough for Mikel Arteta to guide his team to the Premier League title because they would proceed to collapse in the following weeks.
And after Arsenal’s 6-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday night, Freddie Ljungberg was asked about his former side’s title run-in, which includes a visit to Tottenham.
The Highbury hero stated that going to Tottenham is always ‘go and win’, but he was sure to express his ‘respect’ towards Ange Postecoglou’s side, as he told Premier League Productions (04/03/24 at 11:15 pm).
He pointed out that Tottenham, who sit fifth in the table and are fighting for Champions League football, have been ‘great’ this season under their new manager.
During the reverse fixture, Spurs did very well to earn a point at Arsenal, even though a lot has been made of the team’s very expansive style of play.
Arsenal’s trip to their rivals is currently set to take place on April 27, but you imagine that will change because of TV scheduling.
Arsenal’s trip to Tottenham
“Away to Tottenham is never a don’t lose, just go and win,” Ljungberg about Spurs being part of Arsenal’s title run-in.
“No, of course, Tottenham have been great this season, so show the respect to them.”

Big few months ahead
You would imagine that, by the time that game comes around, both Arsenal and Tottenham will still be fighting for big causes in the Premier League.
That will just add further spice to the proceedings because somebody’s season might just be ruined with a defeat.
You would imagine more pressure will be on Arsenal because they are fighting for bigger honours, but try to put all of that to the side because it’s the bragging rights that matter the most.
The north London derby never disappoints because it is always pure entertainment, as the reverse fixture proved.
And given that both teams play some of the best attacking football in the league, then you suspect it will be goals-galore once more.
