The 2025 Formula 1 season heads into its 13th round at the Belgian Grand Prix, with several records potentially up for grabs.
Lando Norris will be aiming to close the gap in points between himself and Oscar Piastri, taking advantage of the extra points available during a Sprint race weekend.

Piastri missed out on a win at Silverstone after receiving a penalty from the FIA Stewards for a Safety Car infringement.
Jolyon Palmer felt that Piastri’s Silverstone penalty was harsh, while Martin Brundle noted that he saw something new in Piastri and warned McLaren that ‘fireworks’ could be brewing in the title fight.
F1 title race records that could fall at Spa Francorchamps
Lando Norris closing in on most consecutive podiums record
Norris is currently level with Verstappen for consecutive podium finishes (18), having finished every race on the podium since Suzuka last year. Now, he needs just one more podium finish to take the outright record and surpass Verstappen’s streak from between Miami 2023 and Imola 2024.

Oscar Piastri looking to break pole position streak
Piastri is closing in on Ayrton Senna’s record of eight consecutive pole positions. The Australian currently has six straight poles, all coming this season after starting third at Abu Dhabi last year. If he takes pole at Spa, it would put him within one of matching Senna’s all-time record set back in 1988.
Max Verstappen could surpass Ayrton Senna with qualifying feat
If Max Verstappen posts the fastest time on Saturday, he’ll become the first driver to top qualifying at Spa five years in a row.
Verstappen hasn’t started from pole every year due to penalties, but he’s still set the quickest time each time out. His run matches Ayrton Senna’s streak from 1988 to 1991.

Fernando Alonso is approaching a few long-standing records of his own. If he completes at least 41 laps this weekend, he’ll overtake Sebastian Vettel for the most racing laps completed in the Belgian Grand Prix.
Vettel currently leads with 622 laps, while Michael Schumacher has 602. Alonso sits at 582 but has had his share of misfortune this season.
This race will also mark a milestone for both Alonso and Lewis Hamilton as they make their 19th appearances in Belgium, setting a new record for starts at Spa.
Sergio Perez holds the Spa Francorchamps lap record
Sergio Perez set the fastest lap ever recorded at Spa Francorchamps during the 2024 race while driving the RB21.

Red Bull had pitted Perez late in that race, fitting him with Soft tyres to try and take points away from Lando Norris.
That strategy has since become obsolete, as points for fastest laps were removed ahead of the 2025 season. Teams had been exploiting it by having drivers outside the top ten pit for fresh tyres just to claim the point.
