Gary Neville has hit back over claims he was being biased against Arsenal during their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham in the north London derby last Thursday, as he posted on Instagram.
The Manchester United legend stated ‘Arsenal fans have been on me all week’, but shared that the Gunners simply ‘froze’ against Spurs, as he fired back at those ‘biased’ claims.
Last week was a massive chance for Mikel Arteta and his players to secure Champions League football – three points would have done the job.
But, not only did the Gunners leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium empty-handed, but they were also down to ten men for large parts of the match.
Neville was on commentary for Sky for the north London derby, alongside the veteran Martin Tyler, with Arsenal fans accusing Neville of bias towards their team, but he issued this response.
“Arsenal fans have been on me actually all week since Thursday night,” said Neville.
“They feel hard-done to. They feel as if I was biased in the game against Tottenham.
“But, the reality of it was, they froze on Thursday night. They didn’t play well. They didn’t handle the occasion very well. They didn’t handle the crowd very well. And they were emotional in their defending.
“And (on Monday night), if they don’t win, then they are in big trouble. That’s where the fourth place will be won or lost.
“So, you Arsenal fans get off my case, it’s not my fault you are scrambling around for fourth place.”

As things stand, Spurs are sitting fourth in the Premier League table and will be hoping for a favour from Newcastle United.
Whilst Eddie Howe and his players have had some indifferent results of late, for most parts of 2022, they have been outstanding, especially at St James’ Park.
This will be Newcastle’s last home game of the season and they will want to end on a high.
If Arsenal can’t see off the Magpies, then they might have just waved Champions League football goodbye.
