The Memphis Grizzlies have started the season 5-11.
Morant, who has seemed disconnected from his teammates and head coach Tuomas Iisalo, hasn’t exactly been helping either.
There were hopes that he Grizzlies could make a return to playoff form this year, but so far they’re near the bottom of the standings in 11th place.
Looking at Morant’s stats, he is having the worst season of his career. It’s just early in the season, but here are Morant’s averages:
Ja Morant’s shooting numbers are down across the board
Morant’s shooting numbers have taken a hit this year, with the only exception being his free throw percentage.

His points per game have dropped from 23.2 last season to 17.9 this year. The biggest concern has been his efficiency. Morant is hitting just 35.9 percent from the floor and only 16.7 percent from beyond the arc, both of which are significant declines.
It’s not just his numbers that are down; Morant also seems like he may be ready to move on from Memphis.
Ja Morant could be on the move from Memphis
If things don’t improve for the Grizzlies, they might consider moving on from Morant. The challenge is that his current form and reported attitude issues are unlikely to bring back much value in return.
Teams in playoff contention might still show some interest, but his contract complicates things further, especially with so many teams trying to stay under the second apron.
Morant is set to earn more than $39 million this season, over $42 million next year, and upwards of $44 million in 2027-28.
