Graeme Souness suggested on Sky Sports Football (9:47am, May 18, 2020) that Ryan Fraser could struggle at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Liverpool legend, who started his professional club football career at Tottenham but could not break into the first team, added that clubs will take a chance on his Scottish compatriot because of his status as a free agent.

The 26-year-old Scotland international winger will become a free agent at the end of June when his current contract with Bournemouth runs out.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham are interested in signing the winger this summer, and the player himself wants to move to Jose Mourinho’s side.

Former Scotland international Souness has given his take on speculation regarding Fraser and Tottenham.

Souness said about Fraser on Sky Sports Football (9:47am, May 18, 2020), as transcribed by The Daily Echo: “Well, I think given no-one will have the same spending power this summer – and he is going to be a free. I think some people will take a chance on him.”

Souness added: “Yeah he can perform in the Premier League and he has done that very well at times.

“When you go to a big football club and the pressure is really on you every time you turn up on a matchday to win that game. That does strange things to people – and I’ve witnessed it.

“I suppose people will take a chance because he’s a free and given they don’t have the same cash to splash this summer.”

Big move for Ryan Fraser

Fraser has done well for Bournemouth, and at the age of 26, the winger is ready to take the next step in his career and move to a bigger club.

While it could be tricky for the Scotland international to step up to Spurs’ demands, for the club themselves, signing an established winger on a free transfer would be smart business, given the economic uncertainty in the game at the moment.
