‘The press hate him’: Chairman claims some of the media really don’t like Tottenham man

Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has said on the Hard Truth podcast that Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho needs to be given more credit.

MacAnthony claims that the Tottenham boss is ‘despised’ by some members of the media, who give him unfair stick.

But MacAnthony feels that the Portuguese boss is still an incredible manager, and he has backed Tottenham to make it into the top four with ease this season.

“I’ve always been a Mourinho fan, and I know the press hate him. There’s a few of my pals in the press who despise Mourinho,” he said.

“But Mourinho has shown what a job he did at United now, getting them second and winning trophies. People wanted to laugh at him leaving.

“Look at the way he’s got Spurs playing! I tipped Spurs as the dark horse.

“You take that penalty away last week and they’re second or third. I’m telling you now, he’s going to get them top four.”

Tottenham’s start to this season has certainly been encouraging, and Mourinho has made some of his critics eat their words.

Mourinho’s Spurs side have shown great attacking intent, and seem to be one of the most in-form sides in the Premier League right now.

There is real optimism building around Spurs, and Gareth Bale has not even returned to fitness yet to make them an even bigger threat.

Tottenham will now be hoping that the international break does not halt the momentum which they have built up.

Spurs return to action in two weekends’ time, when they take on West Ham United.
