It appears that golf fans will soon have a better idea as to whether Luke Donald will decide to lead Team Europe for a third time at the 2027 Ryder Cup.

Donald has certainly earned the right to make a decision on his own Ryder Cup future after overseeing victories in 2023 and 2025.

The Englishman stepped into the role in trying circumstances ahead of the 2023 event, with Henrik Stenson being stripped of the captaincy ahead of his decision to join LIV Golf.

Luke Donald now weighing up whether to captain Europe at the Ryder Cup for a third time

And Luke Donald – who was on the winning team four times as a player – continued his flawless Ryder Cup record at Bethpage Black last year.

Europe became the first away side to win the event since 2012 in New York.

Donald confirmed ahead of the Dubai Desert Classic that he will soon hold talks about the possibility of staying on for Adare Manor in 2027.

But perhaps a leadership role at his favourite Premier League club may also be about to open up.

It turns out that Donald is a supporter of Tottenham Hotspur, as he revealed in a post on X back in 2011. He did ask fans to not unfollow him over the announcement.

Tottenham in turmoil amid doubts over Thomas Frank’s future

While Donald is obviously unlikely to switch sports anytime soon, you could argue that the Spurs hierarchy could do a lot worse than seek his advice when it comes to leadership.

Tottenham did win the Europa League last season. However, there is no question at all that the club is not coming close to realising its potential.

They missed the chance to kick on after reaching the Champions League final nearly seven years ago. Spurs have not finished in the Premier League’s top three since 2018.

The Telegraph is among the outlets reporting that Thomas Frank’s future is in serious doubt. With that, Tottenham face trying to find yet another different direction to go in.

It would certainly be no surprise to see Donald win another trophy before his club do.
