Here’s how the Premier League table would look based purely on away results… Tottenham would be big winners, Newcastle and QPR not so much.

Such is the difference between some teams home and away that a Premier League table based purely on away form would make for interesting reading.

For starters, the top flight would have different leaders in Manchester City, who have amassed four points more than actual leaders Chelsea. Arsenal, meanwhile, would sit in the top four.

But the biggest winners were the league standings measured on away results would by far be Tottenham Hotspur.

In nine matches, Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs have won themselves 17 points on the road, putting Tottenham two points above Arsenal and only five behind City.

Newcastle United, by contrast, would be big losers, with the Magpies sitting in 15th in the table. Polar opposites to Tottenham, Newcastle have only nine points from 10 away games this season – and fans will hope their luck on their travels changes under their new manager.

No one, however, can top Queens Park Rangers when it comes to the unfortunate feat of boasting the league’s worst away record. Newcastle’s tally is at least a solid nine points out of nine above QPR’s, with Harry Redknapp’s side having lost every single away game so far this season.

Joining QPR in the ‘away’ relegation zone would be fellow newly promoted sides Leicester City and Burnley.
