In 2021, Emma Raducanu made history at the US Open with a remarkable campaign.

The then-18-year-old became the first-ever qualifier to clinch a Grand Slam title when she won the tournament without dropping a set.

Raducanu made herself a hero in her country, having also become the first British woman to win a major since Virginia Wade in 1977.

She was showered with praise by prominent public figures all over the nation; none more prominent than Queen Elizabeth II.

The British Prime Minister at the time, Boris Johnson, also had words for Raducanu after her incredible victory at Flushing Meadows.

As per the Sun in 2021, Johnson talked with Raducanu on the phone.

A Downing Street spokesperson said: “The Prime Minister spoke to Emma Raducanu this afternoon to congratulate her on her fantastic victory at the US Open.
