Lee Dixon has praised Harry Kane for getting the better of Kieran Trippier during Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (23/10/22 at 6:45 pm).
With Newcastle racing into a 2-0 lead, Spurs pulled a goal back in the second half when Kane beat Trippier at the far post to head in his 10th Premier League goal of the season.
Both at Spurs and in England colours, Trippier and Kane would have faced many battles on the training field.

But the Three Lions captain was just too clever for the right-back yesterday, although, he would more than happily take away his goal for three points.
Eddie Howe’s side deserved the win, with the home team putting up another questionable performance, this time losing their first home game of the campaign.
Nonetheless, Dixon shared how Kane is so good at scoring at the back post and how, as a defender, you don’t want to engage with the opposition taker, as Trippier did.
“I always used to stand on the post because they never moved,” joked Dixon about Trippier’s marking from a corner. “Just grab the post and you’ll never get another job.
“Kane goes into them little areas. How many times does he get them far post goals? Defenders switch off and you want Trippier to fight him.
“But as soon as he grabs hold of Harry Kane like that, he knows he’s got Trippier because he can grab hold of him. Once he gets goal side, there’s nothing he can do and he can’t get back.
“You don’t let the centre-forward touch you. They will want to grab you in those situations when you are close to the goal because they have the power to grab you off. Then you only need a yard and it’s a goal, so don’t let him touch you. Stay on the post where you are out of the way.”

IF IT WASN’T FOR HAALAND…
There is only one man well and truly smoking it up in the Premier League this season and that’s Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland.
The 22-year-old has scored 17 Premier League goals from his 11 games – Kane netted that same amount last season.
They are freak numbers and it’s making Kane’s start look pretty average when it’s far from it.
The Golden Boot is heading in Haaland’s direction, but if anyone can battle him to that spot and even possibly beat him, then it’s Kane himself.
