According to Bleacher Report, Leeds are interested in signing Montiel from River Plate in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that West Ham United, Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke are also interested in the Argentina international, who is rated at £15 million.
Montiel’s agent, Marcelo Carracedo, has said that several teams have asked about his client, adding that the youngster could end up playing in the Premier League next season.
Ole quotes Carracedo as saying: “There are several interested teams that have asked about him There are no concrete offers yet. We are facing a slow market that is just opening, so it is still a bit premature.”
Carracedo added regarding a move to England: “It is a league that despite the global health crisis can face higher costs than others. In fact, with exceptions, in other leagues they are more with tricks or loans.
“On the other hand, the English league with the billing for the television rights have the possibility, especially medium clubs that in other places would be impossible to pay those numbers.”
Good signing for Leeds United?
Montiel is a very good right-back who has been on the books of Argentine giants River his entire professional club football career so far.
The 23-year-old also played twice for the Argentina national football team, and he has quite a lot of experience.
With Leeds playing in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship, head coach Marcelo Bielsa could do with another right-back who would push Luke Ayling and compete with him for a place in the starting lineup.
