Red Bull Salzburg ace Rasmus Kristensen admits he’s ready to leave the Champions League hopefuls amid interest from David Moyes’ West Ham United, speaking to TV3

West Ham look a little short at centre-back. They are crying out for a centre-forward too.

Mark Noble’s imminent retirement means a new midfielder may be required as well. You could say the same about a new left-back, with the injury-prone Arthur Masuaku set for another potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines.

One position where West Ham do look well-stocked, however, is on the right-hand side of defence.

Though that has not stopped the Hammers from renewing their interest in a long-term transfer target, according to BILD

West Ham tried to sign the swashbuckling Kristensen twice in 2020, Moyes admitting that a ‘proper bid’ had been lodged for the former Ajax youngster.

With the Denmark international now looking to follow Erling Haaland, Patson Daka and Takumi Minamino out of the Red Bull Arena, it could be a classic case of ‘third time lucky’ as far as West Ham are concerned.

Is Rasmus Kristensen on his way to West Ham United?

“This will be my third season (at Salzburg) this summer,” says Kristensen, reportedly valued at around £10 million.

“It’s what makes me want to try something new and reach an even higher level to test myself.”

The attack-minded Kristensen has nine goals and seven assists to his name this season. And he more than held his own as Salzburg went toe-to-toe with Bayern Munich a hard-fought Champions League clash this week.

“Without comparison, this has been my best season as a professional football player,” Kristensen adds. “So I think this summer is a good time (to leave).

“And I also think that is the club’s plan. That I should be sold at some point.”

With Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson expected to stay at the London Stadium, Ryan Fredericks appears the most likely candidate to make way should Kristensen arrive.

Fredericks will be a free-agent in July and has played just 45 minutes of Premier League football this term.
