Michy Batshuayi was linked with Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United and Frank Lampard’s Everton in the summer transfer window before the striker left Chelsea for Fenerbahce.
Journalist Simon Phillips told GiveMeSport last month that Everton were keen on a late move for the 28-year-old Belgium international striker.
Earlier in the year, TEAMtalk claimed that Leeds were among the clubs who wanted to secure the services of Batshuayi.
The striker did not move to Leeds or Everton in the summer transfer window and joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce instead.
And he has already started to make an impact for his new club.
Leeds United and Everton target Michy Batshuayi scores on Fenerbahce debut
Fenerbahce kicked off their UEFA Europa League campaign against Dynamo Kyiv at home on Thursday evening.
The Turkish giants won.
Batshuayi made his debut for Fenerbahce in the match and scored in the second minute of injury time.
It proved to be the winner.
After the match, the former Chelsea striker took to Instagram to express his delight at making his debut for Fenerbahce and scoring the winner.
Leeds and Everton could be left to rue that they could not sign the striker in the summer transfer window.
