Newcastle United fans on Twitter are certainly on board with the rumours around Marcelo Brozovic.
The Magpies have been linked to one or two or 50 high-profile players since the mega-rich Saudi Public Investment Fund completed their takeover last month.
Brozovic of Inter Milan is the latest star to find himself linked with a potential move to Newcastle [The Times].
The 29-year-old has become one of Europe’s finest midfielders in recent years, particularly since Antonio Conte – now at Spurs – took over at San Siro.
He helped Inter to a Serie A title last season and also finished as a runner-up with Croatia in the World Cup three-and-a-half years ago.
And Newcastle fans seem very excited by the prospect of getting him to St James’s Park.
Realistic signing?
Potentially not, no.
Let’s face it, nobody is going to want to join Newcastle until their Premier League status is secure, which it won’t be by January.
Eddie Howe, whose reign gets underway against Brentford on Saturday, has inherited a squad who sit 19th in the table, five points adrift of safety.
Relegation is genuinely likely unless Howe can get the Magpies playing well and winning games.
And although Brozovic could certainly do that, does he want to?
Considering he’s going to be inundated with offers, due to the fact he’s out of contract next summer, he might not be up for a relegation scrap.
