Speaking to OTB, Mark Lawrenson has been full of praise for Caoimhin Kelleher after his performance in the Carabao Cup final.
The Irishman was absolutely brilliant for the Reds against Chelsea, he made a string of very important saves, and crucially converted the Anfield outfit’s final penalty in the shootout.
Lawrenson was incredibly impressed by Kelleher, claiming that he was the outstanding player of the Reds’ run to the trophy.
What’s been said?
Lawrenson was full of praise for the stopper.
“I think only two may have been able to be saved, but Kelleher was fabulous and his penalty showed that he’s got massive cojones. If you look at the competition and the games Liverpool played in the competition he’s been the outstanding player of all of the games,” Lawrenson said.

Excellent
Lawrenson couldn’t say enough good things about Kelleher, and we can understand why.
This young man was trusted to play in an incredibly high-profile game ahead of arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, and he didn’t let the pressure get to him at all.
His saves from the likes of Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount were vital during the match, and while he didn’t save any of the penalties in the shootout, he converted his with aplomb.
Kelleher showed an immense amount of bottle to step up to this occasion, and the Reds can feel safe in the fact that they have such a reliable number two goalkeeper deputising behind Alisson.
