If Liverpool win the Premier League, Steven Gerrard should consider this celebration.

Liverpool are staring at the very realistic possibility of a Premier League title win by the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers men sit pretty at the top of the table. They’re a point ahead of Chelsea and four points ahead of Manchester City despite the fact Manuel Pellegrini’s men have two games in hand.

The crunch game in the title race is the match between the two sides next weekend at Anfield.

Should Liverpool win that game, they will move seven points ahead of City and into a dominant position which will give Steven Gerrard a great chance of lifting the Premier League crown on the final day of the season against Newcastle.

There’s only one way Gerrard should be thinking about lifting the silverware; from the penalty spot at Anfield.

Gerrard’s spot kicks have been crucial for the side this season. They were the difference yesterday against West Ham United and they were the difference in the recent win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Gerrard has notched up more spot kicks than anyone else in England’s top flight this season and is the only man to reach double figures so far from 12 yards out.

When Liverpool win a penalty, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that Gerrard is going to score so if the Reds get a penalty in the last minute against Newcastle to win the league, they should have every confidence that their skipper won’t buckle under the pressure.
