Liverpool defender Rhys Williams has told Henrie Kwushue on UMM’s official YouTube channel that he doesn’t look anything like Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips.

The towering centre-back was also reacting to claims that he should join Leeds because of his ‘haircut’ and how his man bun has probably started those rumours.

Williams and Phillips aren’t the only ones styling the man bun in either the Liverpool or Leeds dressing rooms because so are Virgil van Dijk, Luke Ayling and Jack Harrison are also donning that look.

But this is what the promising centre-back had to say about Leeds and their midfielder star, Phillips.

“There’s another meme knocking about that I should go to Leeds about my haircut and stuff,” said Williams.

“I wouldn’t say I am his brother (on Kalvin Phillips). I don’t think I look anything like him, to be honest.

“But there are a lot of man-buns at Leeds, so that’s the only thing I can get from that.”

It’s going to be interesting to see if Williams earns the game time at Anfield ahead of the new season because he has some serious competition ahead of him now.

The likes of Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are back in action, not forgetting the new boy, Ibrahima Konate.

A loan deal away from Merseyside might be the best idea and if Leeds ever wanted to sign him up on a temporary basis then there’s no better teacher in the land than Marcelo Bielsa.

The world-renowned coach has transformed Phillips’ career in Yorkshire and he will no doubt be able to do the same with Williams if he ever had the chance.
