Danny Mills said on Racing Post that Tottenham Hotspur could challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
The former Leeds and City right-back believes that Tottenham are the only side among the rest of the Premier League clubs who could push Liverpool and the Citizens.
However, Mills has added that for Spurs to launch a title challenge this season, a lot of things have to go right.
Mills said on Racing Post: “I still think Liverpool. I still think Manchester City. Is there an outside chance if Mourinho gets it right? Gareth Bale starts to come good, could they have a little bit of a run, could they keep that up?
“I think still they have one or two issues defensively, but who hasn’t? Across the whole league, that’s a massive problem. I guess Spurs would be the only side that I look could put a run of consistency together, but there’s a lot of dependant factors.”
Could Tottenham Hotspur challenge for the Premier League title?
Liverpool and City have arguably the two best and strongest squads in the Premier League.
However, neither the Reds nor the Citizens have looked imperious so far this season, and teams such as Tottenham will feel that they can at least close the gap on them.
Spurs’ main objective this season has to be to finish in the top four of the Premier League table.
However, if the North London club can be consistent and Liverpool and City drop points, then they could fancy their chances.
Jose Mourinho is a serial winner, and the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager will want to win a major trophy with Spurs.
