Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has scored more goals from outside the box this season than Barcelona’s Lionel Messi
Much has been written about the fact that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is keeping pace with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi when it comes to goals scored in 2015.
Both players currently have eight apiece, the young Spurs player going level with the Argentine international when he netted against Liverpool on Tuesday evening.
On that occasion Kane could not inspire his side to a victory, as they lost 3-2 to Brendan Rodgers’ men, but there is still plenty for Tottenham and their supporters to be positive about.
While Kane and Messi are neck-and-neck in terms of goals scored this calendar year, there is an area where the 21-year-old is out-doing his more experienced counterpart when you consider the season as a whole.
Since the new campaign kicked off, Kane has scored five goals from outside the area while the Barcelona star has managed that feat on only four occasions.
It is yet another example of just what a wonderful player the Tottenham youngster is growing into, and that can only bode well for the seasons to come.
