Kris Boyd has stated that Sean Dyche is ‘the one’ for him to be Rangers’ next manager by adding that he has Walter Smith-like ‘principles’ and ‘beliefs’, as he told Sky Sports News (22/11/22 at 7:50 am).

Rangers are looking for a new manager after sacking Giovanni van Bronkhorst, as names, left, right and centre have popped up to take the highly-pressured Ibrox dugout.

The obvious name that springs to everyone’s mind is the man and brains behind Steven Gerrard’s tenure in Glasgow – current QPR boss, Mick Beale.

That would probably be the obvious choice and an appointment that would bring together a fanbase that has watched their side fall nine points behind rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.

But one out-of-work boss is a certain 51-year-old in Sean Dyche, who spent nearly a decade with Burnley, including long spells in the Premier League and a European finish – and his name was thrown in by Boyd.

“For me, he is the one I thought that I would go and get,” said Boyd. “The last time something like this happened was under Paul Le Guen and Walter Smith took over then.

“You’re not going to get another Walter Smith, but what you can get is somebody with the same beliefs and principles. I think Sean Dyche is of that ilk.”

DYCHE OR BEALE?

Both would be foolish not to want the Rangers job given what could be at the end of the road if you succeed.

Celtic are the champions, they are heading for another title and fans at Ibrox want to win the title again, in front of fans and be able to throw strong enough punches at Europe.

Put all of that together and you become an instant legend in Glasgow, Beale knows about that more than anyone, but Dyche has more experience and the character to also take that role.
