Celtic are due to meet Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers on New Year’s Eve for the third time this season.
Celtic winger Scott Sinclair has told the Glasgow Evening Times that Swansea City’s match with Cardiff City did not come close to matching the intensity of the Old Firm derby.
Sinclair only moved to Celtic last summer from Aston Villa, but he has already played against Rangers twice.
And the winger says he has never experienced a derby like that before during his football career, even though he used to play for Swansea.
“When I first played in it at Celtic Park, I could tell the Old Firm derby is a big occasion,” the attacker said.
“I’m sure it will be an experience and I am looking forward to every minute of it. We are taking each game as it comes and we will go into that one full of confidence.
“It was great when we had the Old Firm game here and the Man City game in the Champions League was also unbelievable.
“I played against Cardiff for Swansea but nothing compares to the derbies up here.
“I played home and away in the Welsh game. It doesn’t compare.
“We had the early morning kick-offs but it doesn’t come close to Celtic-Rangers.”
Celtic have won both the Old Firm derbies so far this season, and looked the dominate side in doing so.
The Bhoys first beat Rangers 5-1, before picking up a 1-0 victory in the League Cup.
Celtic and Rangers are set to meet against on New Year’s Eve, in what looks set to be another fierce clash.
Rangers have improved since the start of the season, but Celtic are still unbeaten in domestic action – and they have built up a 14 point advantage over their Glasgow rivals.
