Freiburg ace Luca Waldschmidt has suggested that he would consider a move away from the Bundesliga outfit this summer after catching the eye of Liverpool, in quotes translated by Kicker.
There are certainly a few similarities between this Germany U21 international and the brilliant Bobby Firmino, and not just because both players honed their lethal finishing skills and nimble footwork in the Bundesliga.
Like the Liverpool number nine, Waldschmidt is difficult to pigeonhole.
He is not quite a number nine, not quite a number ten, but equally adept in both roles, drifting between the lines and leading defenders a merry dance with his superb movement.
With Jurgen Klopp perhaps lacking some quality depth in his star-studded front-line, Fussballeck reported in May that Waldschmidt had played his way onto the radar of the reigning Premier League and European champions.

“Everyone knows that every footballer might want to take the next step,” the 24-year-old whose final-day strike saved Hamburg from relegation in 2017 told Ard Sportschau.
“We’ll see if it’s time (to leave Freiburg), I can’t say more.”
Waldschmidt did admit that he is ‘happy’ at the Bundesliga’s perennial overachievers. But it goes without saying that a move to life-changing move to Anfield, and the chance to work under Jurgen Klopp, would be impossible to turn down.
The three-time Germany international showcased his world-class potential at the U21 European Championships last summer, netting a record seven goal en route to the final.
