Jobe Bellingham has shared his excitement after his move to Sunderland was confirmed the morning.
The midfielder told the club why he decided to join the Black Cats after signing a long-term contract following his departure from Birmingham City.
Sunderland confirmed that they had reached an agreement to sign Bellingham last week and he has now put pen to paper on a deal, travelling to the Stadium of Light with brother Jude this weekend.

Speaking on his move, Bellingham said: “I’ve been thinking about this for a long time and I can’t wait to get started. I spent many years at Birmingham City and that really helped my development, but now felt like the right time to take the next step.
“I’m looking forward to working under the Head Coach – I want to learn and develop my game – and I feel like I’m progressing every week, so playing with good players will only help that.
“The Stadium of Light is the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in and the fans have already made me feel welcome online, so I’m excited to get going and I’m focused on letting my football speak for itself.”
The 17-year-old will wear the no.7 shirt and will link up with his new teammates for pre-season training on Monday.
Jobe Bellingham’s arrival encapsulates Sunderland’s exciting transfer policy
While it is Jude that gets in all the attention in the media, Jobe’s arrival at Sunderland is an extremely exciting one.
The teenager has limited first team experience in the Championship but has bags of potential and clearly believes Sunderland sit he right place for him to develop as a player.
It wasn’t that long ago that the Black Cats would never have considered such a move and certainly wouldn’t have succeeded if they had gone ahead with it.
Like their other signings this summer, Bellingham shows the club’s dedication to the future and is yet another reason for the fans to be delighted with the direction the Wearside outfit is heading in.
