Jamie Redknapp said on Sky Sports Football (7:16pm, April 25, 2021) that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur fans should not expect any better if they get new owners.

The former Tottenham midfielder, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has noted that Spurs fans do not like club owner Joe Lewis and chairman Daniel Levy, while Arsenal supporters are fed up of their chief Stan Kroenke.

Redknapp has said that although Spurs and Arsenal fans may want new owners following the European Super League issue, they should not expect any better from those who might replace them.

The Englishman said on Sky Sports Football (7:16pm, April 25, 2021): “Spurs fans right now are not happy with Daniel Levy because of what has happened. Arsenal fans aren’t happy with their owners.”

Redknapp added: “These are guys who are in charge of their club. The next group of owners could come in and want exactly the same thing. These are businessmen, it’s all about money, this isn’t a passion project for them, it never will be.”

Jamie Redknapp is spot on

Sky Sports pundit Redkapp is spot on. There is no guarantee that new owners at Spurs or Arsenal will be any better, and no businessman buying these big clubs are going to do it for the love of football.

Football club owners are businessmen and they run them as businesses, which is fair enough, but what fans would like to see is careful management of the assets and progress on the pitch.

Arsenal were finishing in the Champions League regularly not so long ago, but there is a chance that they may not even be in the Europa League next season.

Tottenham were challenging for the Premier League title under Mauricio Pochettino a few seasons ago, but they may not end up in the top four this campaign.
