Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Ivan Toney commented on the Gunners and the current state of the club.
What’s the story?
Well, speaking to Baller Talk, the Brentford forward expressed his surprise at how weak Arsenal were in the 2-0 opening day defeat.
Toney said: “Arsenal fans are going to batter me for this, but you see Arsenal at the moment and they’re not the best. I just didn’t see them how they used to be. You used to look at Arsenal and think (they were) crazy and they were going to win this game, win this game.
“These days, I don’t see them winning nothing any time soon.”
Well, it looks like we have a new Troy Deeney on our hands.
The ex-Watford striker loved to take aim at the Gunners for their lack of ‘cojones’ during times where the Hornets got the better of Arsenal.
Now Deeney has disappeared from the scene, Toney looks to have picked up the mantle of rubbing the Arsenal fanbase’s nose in their poor form.
In truth, it doesn’t need to be said. Arsenal, and the supporters, already know how bad they were on the opening day.
Arsenal were unlucky in Brentford defeat

Of course, the players on the pitch that day absolutely could’ve done better, and the performance was a bit of a nightmare.
However, Mikel Arteta was unlucky, as he couldn’t field his best team.
The Gunners were missing both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, while Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhães were also out.
Bukayo Saka was another absentee.

In truth, you’d expect Arsenal to beat a newly-promoted team without these players.
Despite that, Toney’s comments about that 2-0 defeat aren’t really a fair reflection of Arsenal, as so many key players were missing.
Arsenal are certainly in a mess, although it’s only fair to judge Arteta when he has his best options playing.
For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about the £5m man’s comments…
