Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Telegraph revealed that Steve Cooper is set to quit his job at Swansea.

What’s the story?

Well, this is a huge shock for the Swans.

Firstly, you might be wondering why this concerns Crystal Palace.

Before Steve Parish hired Patrick Vieira, Cooper was among the candidates to replace Roy Hodgson.

However, as The Telegraph outline, Swansea wanted £3m in compensation, which put the south Londoners off.

Now, it looks like the Welshman will be leaving the Liberty Stadium, just weeks before the start of the Championship season.

Bullet dodged for Crystal Palace?

In our view, Crystal Palace have dodged a bullet here.

The Athletic explain how Cooper fells out with the owners at Swansea, and wasn’t too enthused about having to sell his best players again.

That latter point is understandable, although the falling out aspect would’ve been a worry had Crystal Palace ended up hiring him.

Cooper leaves the Swans with an enhanced reputation following two Play-Off finishes on a limited budget.

However, his shock exit suggests the Eagles were right not to hire him.

Let’s see how the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news…
