Crystal Palace are still hunting for an heir to Roy Hodgson’s throne after it was announced the 73-year-old would be leaving Selhurst Park.
The likes of Sean Dyche, Frank Lampard and Steve Cooper have been linked with the vacancy, although talk on the topic has recently gone quiet.
Now, Andros Townsend has shed some light on how the Eagles are progressing in their hunt for a new manager.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the 29-year-old said: “They basically sat us all down just before the end of the season and said listen, the new manager is a couple of weeks away, let’s wait and see what he wants, then we’ll give you a call.”
It’s interesting to hear the 13-cap England international put a timeframe on the hunt for Hodgson’s replacement, something that nobody seems to have done yet.
It is also intriguing to hear what Townsend said about the club’s approach to extending contracts – it’s a very sensible move.

Of course, the likes of Christian Benteke, Townsend and Joel Ward don’t want to be waiting for ages until they’re offered a new deal.
However, that is surely better than Steve Parish taking it upon himself to tie some players down, before a new manager potentially isn’t interested in keeping them.

Hopefully, we can get a concrete development on this situation soon.
The transfer window opens on June 9th, and with so much work needed to be done at Selhurst Park, it’s vital that a new boss is in place before then.
