Tottenham Hotspur have been hit with another injury blow, as the club today confirmed that midfielder Victor Wanyama will be out ‘for a few weeks’ with a knee injury.

Spurs are already missing the likes of Danny Rose, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Erik Lamela through injury, but will now miss Wanyama too after his own injury blow.

The midfielder missed out against Burnley before the international break, and Spurs hoped to have him back in contention to face Everton in the Premier League this weekend.

However, Wanyama will now miss ‘a few weeks’, and his absence presents manager Mauricio Pochettino with another headache amid other injuries in the rest of his squad.

Kenyan star Wanyama was a key part of the Tottenham midfield last season, bringing real power and defensive prowess to the Spurs midfield, and his absence will certainly be felt until his return.

In fact, many Tottenham fans are already concerned about the length on Wanyama’s lay-off, given the vague return dates placed on the likes of Lamela and Rose over the last year.

The term ‘a few weeks’ had been used for Lamela and Rose with their injuries, and they haven’t been seen on the pitch since October and January respectively, leaving Spurs fans concerned about just how long Wanyama will actually be out for.

Some are fearing the worst, believing that he could be out for the rest of the year if Tottenham’s usual timescales are anything to go by, or even longer as Spurs face up to life without their defensive midfielder.

Others simply believe that Wanyama’s injury is a monumental blow after his displays last season, but some think that Eric Dier is in fact a better holding midfielder, and could be given a chance to shine there now.
