American content creator IShowSpeed has offered his services to one of the world’s biggest nations ahead of the 2030 World Cup.

The YouTube star has been a notable presence at this year’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Speed, of course, is a huge Cristiano Ronaldo fan and his support of the Portugal forward extended into trolling the 41-year-old’s old rival Lionel Messi as he missed a penalty for Argentina against Egypt.

Argentina beat Switzerland to set up a semi-final vs England! How can Thomas Tuchel's side stop Lionel Messi? Is it possible?

He has been seen at many games during the tournament, along with a host of other big-name celebrities.

Speed is certainly no stranger to the sport, having played in some of the huge exhibition matches set up by the Sidemen and KSI.

Now, he’s offered to help the Indian national team in their quest for a first ever World Cup appearance.

Speed offers to play for India

While watching Spain’s late win over Belgium in the quarter-finals, the 21-year-old joked that he could help India qualify for the 2030 World Cup, which will be held largely in Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

He said: “India do need some help. I’ll play for India. I’ll help y’all make it to the next World Cup. Hey India, if y’all want to make it to the next World Cup, Speed’s right here.”

KSI asked: “Where would you play?”

Before Speed added: “I’ll play winger. Winger, striker or midfield.”

KSI then said: “So, just everywhere?”

Speed responded: “I feel like I’m an attacking midfielder.”

India – the world’s most populous nation – have never played at the World Cup. They did qualify for the 1950 tournament but pulled out of it less than a month before the tournament began in Brazil.

Speed was clearly joking here, unless he does not know the rules. Those who represent national teams need to qualify for citizenship requirements, which Speed would not meet.

India were ranked 138th in the official FIFA rankings ahead of the tournament and it would frankly be a surprise to see them at the next tournament even despite the extended format. Brilliant as it may be, it just does not feel at all likely.

Cricket is clearly the dominant sport in India but there are millions of football fans in the country, so perhaps one day supporters will see them on the grandest stage.
