Martin Tyler told Sky Sports on Super Sunday that Kyle Walker’s previously ‘ambitious’ move to Manchester City from Tottenham has ‘worked out’.
Back in 2017, with Tottenham flying high under Mauricio Pochettino, their all-action right-back opted to swap White Hart Lane for the Etihad in a £45 million deal (BBC Sport).
And whilst Walker collected yet another trophy and his fourth consecutive League Cup at the expense of Tottenham on Sunday, certain players like Harry Kane, who is waiting for his first major trophy, would have been thinking ‘what if’.
Sky commentator, Tyler, touched upon Walker and his decision to swap Spurs for the mega-rich, Manchester City four years ago.
“He has good spells as a Tottenham player,” said Tyler. “He really got into the level when Manchester City came in for him.
“He was ambitious, Kyle Walker. But the move has worked out well for him, just in terms of getting the trophies that these Tottenham players have just fallen short of.”

A player of Kane and Heung-Min Son’s qualities shouldn’t be collecting runners-up medals after the game.
And with another chance to win a trophy passing by Tottenham, their fans should be venting their anger towards Daniel Levy.
The man, who has won 12 out of 14 finals, the only man to beat Pep Guardiola in a final, was sacked days before that Wembley showdown, and whilst Jose Mourinho had his problems at Spurs, Levy has some serious questions to answer.
The recent European Super League saga has perhaps highlighted the real issues at Tottenham and it wouldn’t be a surprise if fans now want the likes of Levy out of the door.
