Pat Nevin has told Off the Ball that Gareth Bale is ‘made of glass’ which is the ‘most offensive thing’ you can say to a footballer.
The BBC pundit and former Chelsea winger stated that Bale simply isn’t a Jose Mourinho player despite his recent resurgence in a Tottenham shirt.
It’s understandable why it has taken time for Bale to get his pretty expensive engine going, but Tottenham are beginning to run out of road in order for him to really showcase his worth and have the desired impact.
Nevin thinks that Bale simply ‘cannot play enough games in a row’ and shared what he told former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips about Bale.
“He has brought Bale in but Bale’s not even a Jose player,” said Nevin. “Nowhere near it. He’s not that type. He’s so up and down.
“I was talking to Kevin Phillips and I said a line to him and he just laughed at me. He said ‘I haven’t heard that for years’, so it’s a line players use of each other which is ‘yeh, he’s made of glass’.
“And it’s one of the most offensive thing you can say because it means you are injured or you are injury-prone. And Gareth is. There is no getting around it.
“He doesn’t play enough games. He either cannot play enough games in a row. But that’s not a Jose player.”

It’s Europa League action for Tottenham on Thursday and there shouldn’t be too much of a problem in Mourinho’s side progressing because of their two-goal cushion.
But following that North London derby defeat, anything but progression will be met with real anger.
Mourinho has been like a marmite-like figure since his time at Tottenham and if the club aren’t showing any signs of progression then there’s only one way those supporters will want him to head towards.
