Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s game against Brentford, Jurgen Klopp has delivered a team news update.

Klopp says that the Reds have suffered a few knocks after their game against Arsenal on Thursday evening. However, the manager claims that the medical department has told him that everyone affected should be fit to play against the Bees.

With the Reds missing key players to the African Cup of Nations, the Merseyside club need to make sure they can avoid any further selection issues, and luckily, despite picking up a few knocks, it seems as though they’ve come through a very physical game against Arsenal relatively unscathed.

What’s Klopp said?

The manager gave a positive update on his squad’s fitness.

“As far as I know there are no real injuries. We got knocks last night, Robbo got a knock, Virg got a knock, Millie got a knock, but directly after the game, the medical department told me they would all be fine, but we will see. There are no ‘injuries’ so far, so it should be the same squad available like for the game against Arsenal,” Klopp said.

Good news

This is exactly the update Liverpool fans will have wanted to hear.

The Reds have quite a congested fixture list after their Carabao Cup game had to be postponed, so fitness and injuries will have been quite a big worry.

However, luckily, it sounds like the Anfield outfit will be able to field a relatively strong XI against the Bees, and while Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita will be missing, this update have given Liverpool the best possible chance of beating Brentford this weekend.
