‘The main target’: Chelsea now ‘face’ Tottenham threat for £215,000-a-week striker

Chelsea have made Dusan Vlahovic their main target this summer, but Mauricio Pochettino is facing competition from his former club Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Rudy Galetti, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are interested in signing Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist has reported on Twitter that Chelsea have made the Serbia international striker their main target.

However, the Blues are now facing competition from Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham for Vlahovic, according to Galetti.

The reporter had earlier claimed that Tottenham are looking at the £215,000-a-week (SalarySport) Juventus striker as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are trying to sign England international striker Kane from Tottenham.

Chelsea more appealing than Tottenham Hotspur for Dusan Vlahovic

In our opinion, Chelsea are likely to be more appealing to Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic than Tottenham Hotspur.

Although Chelsea will not play in the UEFA Champions League next season, they are still one of the biggest clubs in the world and are a global brand.

Like most of us, Vlahovic will be well aware that one season out of the UEFA Champions League does not temper the appeal and significance of a club like Chelsea who have won trophies after trophies in recent years.

Chelsea regularly challenge for the Premier League title and won the UEFA Champions League in 2021.

While Spurs are a big club as well, they have not been in the race for the Premier League ever since they parted company with Pochettino.

It is unlikely that Tottenham will push the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title anytime soon.

Vlahovic scored 10 goals and gave two assists in 22 Serie A starts for Juventus last season.

During the 2021-22 season, the Serbia international striker scored 17 goals and gave two assists in 21 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina, and scored seven goals and provided one assist in 12 Serie A starts for Juve.
