Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing Alexandre Lacazette and his poor form in front of goal in recent months.
The Frenchman has been the Gunners’ first-choice number nine ever since the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but despite the fact he’s been leading the line for an incredibly creative Arsenal side, he only has four goals to his name this season.
While some are willing to give Lacazette a pass due to his brilliant link-up play, Seaman says that his shortcomings in front of goal are a real issue for Arsenal.
What’s been said?
Seaman spoke about the Frenchman.
“You look at Lacazette and he’s not scored many goals at all this season. People say that he’s contributed in the play and everything, but he should be doing that anyway. Look at Harry Kane, he wasn’t scoring but he was contributing, but now he’s scoring lots of goals. That’s where I think the main problem has been, the lack of goals from the main number nine,” Seaman said.

Problem
Lacazette hasn’t been playing terribly on a weekly basis, but as Seaman says, his lack of goals are a serious problem.
Just look at Eddie Nketiah’s performance against Chelsea this week. In terms of all-around play, he wasn’t doing as much as Lacazette usually does, but he took his chances, scored twice and earned Arsenal all three points.
It’s all well and good being a modern forward who offers a lot off the ball, but if you’re not scoring goals, you won’t win games.
Lacazette’s struggles in front of goals could cost Arsenal a place in the top four.
